Signal Cabins - Proposed
Below are some details of signals cabins proposed in Queensland but never built.
Below are some details of signals cabins proposed in Queensland but never built.
Baddow: In the 1970's plans were developed to alter the position of the main platform at Baddow. The existing platform was on the Gympie-Maryborough leg of the angle, with only a very short platform on the main North Coast Line, the Gympie-Bundaberg leg. Two schemes were proposed:-
Dinmore: In the 1950's a large concrete signal cabin was proposed to replace the small timber building on the platform. The larger building was to house a 36 lever frame with 2 additional Double Wire levers. When the timber station building was replaced with the current brick building space was allocated for a signal cabin in the new building in the raised section in the middle of the building. This was to house a panel controlling colour light signalling throughout the area but this too never eventuated. The small timber cabin building remained in use until re-signalling for electrification was completed in 1980. At that time a local signal panel was provided in the Station Masters office which could control Dinmore when required.

Kingsthorpe: In 19xx the branch line to ? opened and Kingsthorpe became a junction station. Plans were prepared to interlock Kingsthorpe with a x lever frame to be provided. The points to the branch, the crossing loop points and Home signals were to be provided as well as an additional Starting signal to the Western line or the ? Branch. No Starting signals were provided for the crossing loop. The planned interlocking did not go ahead and no signal cabin was built.
Zillmere: A signal cabin was proposed for Zillmere when it became a crossing station in 19??. The original design was for a cabin with X levers however a smaller lever frame with only Y levers was installed.
